Use of alternative ingredients – Gmund Bio Cycle
Innovation and diversity at Gmund Papier
Paving the way toward a sustainable future
Continuous development, insatiable curiosity and looking confidently toward the future are essential ingredients in Gmund Paper Mill’s formula for success. The paper manufacturer is a pioneer in the industry, especially in the areas of alternative fibres, through-dyed fine papers and expressive surface finishings.
One outstanding example of innovation is Gmund Paper Mill’s investment in the Greenfibra Lab, which was set up onsite at Lake Tegernsee. The lab researches and tests fast-growing and sustainable plant fibres to determine their properties as potential materials for paper. Particularly exciting: Customers can place orders for papers made from fibres generated by their own production. One successful research project, for example, is the production of cocoa paper using waste products generated by the chocolate industry. Gmund is also a client of Greenfibra Lab, which it commissioned to test paper made from 100% hemp fibres in 2021. These tests resulted in the Gmund Hemp collection with pure hemp fibre content. The company is especially proud to have been commended by the German Sustainability Award for the successful production of this paper.
Gmund Paper Mill uses a variety of alternative fibres and alternative production processes to offer its customers even better and more sustainable papers for their individual communication needs.
The Gmund Bio Cycle collection is a further example of the driving force and future-orientation of the Gmund paper manufacturer. In developing this collection, the paper experts at Gmund am Tegernsee pursue one goal in particular: the conservation of natural resources and the encouragement of thoroughgoing environmental awareness. In an innovative step, Gmund is replacing up to 50 per cent of conventional wood pulp with fast-growing fibres to create papers distinguished by timeless beauty and outstanding eco-balance.
Gmund’s specialists set a new benchmark in sustainability with the Gmund Bio Cycle collection. The convincing results are natural papers made from alternative plant fibres, as well as an ecological classic made from 100% recycled paper.
A wide range of options are offered by the several variants in the collection, which include Chlorophyll Leaf Green, Wheat Straw, Cannabis Hemp, Rag Cotton and Cycle-Kreislauf. From green waste mown on Bavarian meadows to high-quality cannabis pulp from European cultivators, each paper’s ingredients endow it with unique properties and palpable naturalness.
Customers who opt for Gmund Bio Cycle paper not only achieve aesthetic benefits, but also gain genuine added value in terms of design, feel and credibility. In particular, companies that want to emphasise their green corporate philosophy appreciate this collection as an ideal solution for their packaging, brochures and print communication.
With grammages ranging from 100 to 600 g/m² and the option of using the papers with all common printing techniques, Gmund Bio Cycle is extremely versatile. This ecological all-rounder sets a new standard for environmentally friendly papers, while simultaneously embodying its user’s commitment to a sustainable future.
Gmund Paper Mill repeatedly proves that it not only offers a wide variety of papers in its product assortment, but also relies on an abundance of sustainable solutions in its production. Never content to rest on its laurels, the company is constantly on the lookout for new and innovative ideas.
